About 5A Hockey

Welcome to 5A Hockey—because apparently AAA just wasn’t elite enough.

While other programs stopped at three As, we felt there was still room for two more. More As, more standards, more expectations. Is that how elite status works? Maybe not officially. But around here, we like to think it says something.

All jokes aside, the extra letters are not there for show.

We love the speed, the culture, and the grind that comes with high-level hockey. But we also believe the traditional model has real shortcomings. It can be too expensive, too centered on individual recognition, and too quick to leave good players and good families behind.

5A Hockey was built to offer a better version of elite youth hockey—one that combines strong player development with a culture families can trust. The five As are not a marketing line. They are the principles that shape how we build our program, how we coach, and how we define success.

Affordability
We believe talented players should have the opportunity to compete and develop regardless of financial circumstances. Hockey is a demanding sport, and the costs associated with it can create barriers for many families.
Affordability is one of our core principles because we want opportunity to be driven by commitment, work ethic, and ability—not by budget alone. We are committed to building a program that keeps participation as accessible as possible without compromising the quality of development our players receive.

Attitude
A strong attitude is essential in a sport as demanding as hockey. Players face adversity constantly—missed chances, difficult games, hard coaching, and moments that test composure. How a player responds in those moments matters.
We value athletes who bring energy, resilience, and professionalism to the rink. A positive, team-oriented attitude helps players grow, strengthens the locker room, and creates the kind of environment where individuals and teams can thrive.

Authenticity
Authenticity means being genuine in how you play, compete, and carry yourself. In hockey, character is revealed through effort, consistency, and willingness to put the team first.
We want players who do the hard work, embrace their role, and compete with honesty and humility. Authenticity is about substance over image—earning respect through preparation, discipline, and the way you show up every day.

Accountability
Accountability is central to team success. Players improve when they take ownership of their performance, learn from mistakes, and accept responsibility for their actions.
At 5A Hockey, we expect accountability from everyone in our program. That means being prepared, competing with discipline, honoring commitments, and holding yourself to a high standard even when no one is watching. Trust is built when players, coaches, and families all take responsibility for their role in the program.

Apex
Apex represents the highest point of growth and performance. For our players, that means striving to reach their full potential—not only as athletes, but also as teammates and young people.
Reaching your apex is not a one-time achievement. It is a process of continual improvement, driven by focus, discipline, and a willingness to compete at your best when it matters most. Our role as a program is to help players pursue that standard and give them the tools to sustain it.

At 5A Hockey, we are not simply building teams. We are building a program with a clear identity, strong values, and a long-term commitment to developing players the right way.
